  1. Review and approval of minutes from December 5th, 2012

Brian Bagley confirmed that a quorum was present 18members & 5 guests

Distributed draft copies of the minutes from the December 5th, 2012 meeting, they were approved and a vote held with all in favor.

  1. Treasurer’s Report

Bank balance as of December 31, 2012 was $1,510.04.

  1. Community Police Liaison Committee.

No formal update at this meeting.  A discussion and concerns regarding graffiti on the laneway parallel to Huntley between Selby and Linden were held.  Also in the past few months there has been a break-in at JamesCooperMansion

  1. Update from the Councillor Office – Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam

A discussion on each of the below was held with the Councillor

  • Movie shoot producers are require to alert the BIA and not the residents’ association
  • Monitoring of the Sherbourne bike lanes are a challenge, Toronto Police Service is actively monitoring illegally parked cars.
    • Members have great concern with the functionality of these lanes close to medical services building, hotels and facilitation of Wheel-Trans services.
  • Bike lanes on Wellesley Street are in the planning stage.  Installation of the upgraded bike lanes is scheduled to start in summer 2013.  Feedback on the Wellesley Street bike lanes should be sent to bikewellesley@toronto.ca
  • A special meeting regarding street parking on Lourdes Lane, Homewood Avenue and Wellesley Place was held at the Councilor’s office on January 21st with special interest groups, UJNA participated.  Toronto Transportation staff report can be found at:  http://app.toronto.ca/tmmis/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2013.TE22.58
    • Further adjustments to the allowable parking duration can still be adjusted
  • The Jarvis & Charles intersection redevelopment has been placed on hold since the debate on removing the Jarvis Street bike lanes.  No update at this point
  • The Councillor is aware of the concerns with accessibility of the Sherbourne subway station.

Subsequent update from TTC

    • TTC staff is please to report that construction of elevators within this station will begin next year and is scheduled to be available for use in 2015. (Andy Byford – TTC, Chief Executive Officer)
  • The Councillor is in favor of the use of Section 37 for localized infrastructure projects that will improve the immediate community
  1. Update from the MPP’s Office – Joyce Grigg Constituency Assistant for Glen Murray, MPP Toronto Centre send her regrets however will meet with Brian over the next few weeks to share updates.
  1. Update on Community Developments

ETFO – The building is coming along and we expect construction to be complete in the spring with ETFO moving into their new headquarters in late spring.

Selby Hotel – Nothing major to report, the developer is waiting for Heritage Staff to return feedback, possible implications with the driveway access location and site circulation.

159 Wellesley – City Planning Staff are trying to finalize a plan report for the end of February Committee agenda.

Sacré-Coeur – The SeparateSchool (Monsignor Fraser) wants the old Sacré-Coeur so they are negotiating with CSDCCS to buy it.  Their School behind it part on Sacré-Coeur property.

387 to 403 Bloor Street East and 28 Selby Street – An application has been submitted to permit a mixed use development of a 49-storey (including an 8-storey base) and a 12-storey residential building including a connecting one-storey base.  The development would include 582 residential units,  1,395 square metres of retail space and a total of 173 parking spaces.
